We need YOUR help to send a message to Boston and our elected officials.
Request they do everything in their power to improve, update and modernize the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke for future generations of veterans to receive the care they have earned.
Tell them you want our state to provide an environment in which the staff can efficiently provide the loving care they are known for and deserve.
Tell them that the legacy of outstanding care for the Veterans who use the home must be protected and that it is an injustice that the state has funded one Veterans’ home (Chelsea) over the other (Holyoke). Every Veteran in our Commonwealth deserves equal care with Honor and Dignity.
What You Can Do:
Sponsor a resolution Call on the state to ACT NOW through a resolution signed by your Veteran or community organization, such as a local VFW or American Legion post or a BPOE Elks.
You can also ask your local municipal body -- your town or city council or Select Board -- to sponsor a resolution calling on the state to ACT NOW.
THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED.
Please visit our new Web Page at HolyokeSoldiersHomeCoalition.org to learn about our current mission to improve the qualify of life for Veterans at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke and to sign up to show your support for the Veterans! Before continuing further, READ THIS IMPORTANT NOTE about Change.org as a caution/alert regarding donations.
Below petition, which is now closed, is on Change.org, a petition platform website. Be advised that our coalition (formerly FundHolyokeSoldiersHomeNow.org and now HolyokeSoldiersHomeCoalition.org) is not accepting or collecting donations for our efforts or doing fundraising at this time. Change.org as a business accepts donations and encourages people to donate to their business but we don't receive anything back. The donation feature is enabled by Change.org as they are the ones asking for donations -- not us. You do NOT need to donate anything to sign the petition, which again is now closed. We do not need any money for this effort -- our petition was to the Governor of Massachusetts to fund the construction of a new and/or improved Soldiers' Home in Holyoke, and he has since our petition and thanks to YOUR SUPPORT, has publicly committed his administration to this funding.
